Watercolor Basics

Curious about watercolor but not sure where to begin? Join us for a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop where you'll learn the fundamentals of painting with watercolor in a welcoming, creative environment.
During this two-hour class, we'll cover:
Choosing and using watercolor supplies
Basic brush techniques
Color mixing
Water control and layering
Simple washes and textures
Creating a finished painting to take home
No experience is necessary, and all supplies are included. Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush or you're looking for a refresher, this workshop is designed to help you build confidence and enjoy the creative process.

Meet Your Host: Alissa Hansen
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, with an emphasis in drawing, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In 2021 I was an artist-in-residence at the Homestead National Historical Park in Beatrice, Nebraska. I teach art classes in my community and serve on the board of the Wahoo Area Arts Council. I am represented by Anderson O’Brien Fine Art in Omaha and Turtle Creek Gallery in Ashland. I have participated in both solo and group shows, including a 2024 solo exhibit “Stillness” at Anderson O’Brien Fine Art.
